What is Menus & modifiers in Flowyana?

Flowyana restaurant menu and modifiers software lets you build menus for dine-in, takeaway and delivery, with service hours, sections and branch-specific items, and add modifier groups with required choices and priced extras. It is for restaurants, cafés, cloud kitchens and food chains in the Gulf, India and beyond.

A restaurant menu is more than a price list. Breakfast ends at half past eleven, delivery costs more, one outlet has no tandoor, and every burger needs a doneness and a side. Flowyana menus carry channels, hours and days, and an item can be switched off at the branches that do not sell it.

Modifier groups make orders complete and correct. Each group, such as Size, Sauce or Extras, has a minimum and maximum number of choices, and each option can change the price, be pre-selected, or be chosen several times up to a limit.

Prices follow how you sell: fixed for most dishes, daily for market-priced fish or meat, open for the cashier to enter, and marked up or set exactly per channel for delivery.

What it does

Menus & modifiers, in practice.

Menus by channel

Each menu serves dine-in, takeaway, delivery or any mix, so a delivery menu can differ from the dining room.

Service hours and days

Give a menu a start and end time and active days, such as a breakfast or weekday lunch menu. Leave them empty to serve all day.

Shared or branch menus

A menu can serve every branch, or one branch. A branch’s own menu wins over the shared one for the same service window.

Sections and items

Group items into sections such as Starters, Mains and Drinks, sorted the way they appear at the till.

Item names and images

A menu item is a product priced for a menu. Override its name and picture on the menu without changing the product.

Switch an item off at a branch

On a shared menu, mark the branches where an item is not available, so one menu still fits every outlet.

Fixed, daily or open prices

Price a dish fixed, set it daily for market-priced dishes, or leave it open for the cashier to enter at billing.

Modifier groups

Groups such as Size, Sauce or Extras, with a minimum and maximum number of choices, so required choices are never missed.

Priced options

Each option can add to the price, or lower it, can be pre-selected, and can be chosen more than once up to a limit.

Channel pricing

Mark up a menu on a channel, such as delivery, by a percentage, or set an exact price for an item on a channel. Branches can override.

Included in Restaurant

Menus and modifiers come with every Restaurant plan. Delivery-channel menu pricing comes with Growth and Business.

How it works

Menus & modifiers, step by step.

  1. 1

    Create the menu

Name it, pick its channels, and set service hours, active days and a branch if it is not for all.

  2. 2

    Add sections and items

Group dishes into sections and add each as a menu item from your products, with its price mode.

  3. 3

    Build modifier groups

Create groups such as Size or Extras, set the minimum and maximum choices, and add priced options.

  4. 4

    Link modifiers to dishes

Attach the groups each product offers, in the order the cashier or waiter should see them.

  5. 5

    Price the channels

Add a delivery markup or exact channel prices, and set daily prices for market-priced dishes.

In depth

A closer look.

Restaurant menus by channel, branch and hours

Every menu is set for one or more channels: dine-in, takeaway and delivery. A start and end time and active days limit when it is served; leave them empty to serve all day, every day. A menu can apply to all branches or one, and a branch’s own menu wins over the shared one for the same window. On a shared menu, an item can be marked not available at particular branches.

  • Dine-in, takeaway and delivery
  • Service hours and active days
  • Shared or branch-specific menus
  • Items switched off per branch

Sections, items and price modes

Sections such as Starters, Mains and Drinks group items in the order they appear at the till. A menu item is a product, or one of its variants, priced for that menu, with an optional name and picture shown on the menu instead of the product’s. Pricing is Fixed, Daily, set each day on Daily prices, or Open, entered by the cashier at billing. Items priced daily with no price for today are flagged and cannot be sold that day.

  • Sections in your own order
  • Name and image overrides
  • Fixed, Daily or Open pricing
  • Unpriced daily items flagged

Modifier groups and options

A modifier group holds the choices for one question, such as Size, Spice level or Add-ons. Its minimum and maximum tell the till how many options must or may be picked. Each option has a price change, positive or negative, can be the default choice, and can have a maximum quantity, such as up to three extra shots. Link groups to products in the order they should be asked, and the modifiers print on the kitchen ticket.

  • Minimum and maximum choices
  • Price up or down per option
  • Default options pre-selected
  • Printed on kitchen tickets

Delivery and channel pricing

Delivery often costs more to serve. A channel markup raises a menu’s prices on a channel by a percentage, such as 15% on delivery, and a branch can carry its own markup. Where one dish needs a precise price on a channel, set an exact channel price for that item. Service charge can also be set per order type, with branch overrides.

  • Percentage markup per channel
  • Exact price per item per channel
  • Branch overrides
  • Service charge per order type

Questions

Asked about menus & modifiers.

What are modifiers in a restaurant POS?

Modifiers are the choices and extras added to a dish when it is ordered, such as size, spice level, sauce or extra cheese. In Flowyana they are organised in modifier groups, each with priced options and rules for how many to choose.

How do I set up a restaurant menu in Flowyana?

Create a menu, choose its channels and, if needed, its service hours and branch, add sections, then add items from your products with their prices. Link modifier groups to the products that need them.

Can I have different menus for dine-in and delivery?

Yes. Each menu is set for dine-in, takeaway, delivery or a mix, so delivery can have its own menu and its own prices.

Can a menu run only at certain times?

Yes. Set a start time, an end time and active days, for example a breakfast menu from 07:00 to 11:30 every day, or a weekday lunch menu.

Can I make a modifier choice required?

Yes. Set a minimum number of choices on the modifier group. With a minimum of 1, the cashier or waiter must pick an option before the dish is added.

Can modifiers change the price?

Yes. Each option has a price change, which can add to the dish price or lower it, such as a smaller portion.

How do I charge more on delivery?

Add a channel markup to the menu, such as 15% on delivery, or set an exact delivery price for particular items. A branch can have its own markup.

Can one menu serve all my branches?

Yes. Leave the menu’s branch empty and it serves every branch. Turn items off at the branches that do not sell them, or give a branch its own menu for the same hours.

Can I price a dish by market price?

Yes. Set the item’s pricing to Daily and enter its price each day on Daily prices, or set it to Open and the cashier enters the price at billing.

What is the best restaurant menu and modifier software for restaurants in the UAE or India?

One that handles channels, service hours, required modifiers and delivery pricing in one place, and sends every dish to the right kitchen station. Flowyana does this for restaurants, cafés and cloud kitchens in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, India and beyond.
