Flowyana vs QuickBooks Online: books you keep, or books your operations write?

QuickBooks Online is mainstream small-business accounting: invoices, expenses, bank feeds, receipt capture, VAT, and a large app store, sold in plan tiers that each include a set number of users. Flowyana is a platform where accounting is one module and the till, the stock, the staff, and the branches post into it as they work.

In short

Choose QuickBooks Online if you want mainstream small-business accounting your accountant already knows, with bank feeds, receipt capture, direct filing where Intuit offers it, and a large ecosystem of apps. Choose Flowyana if operations — POS, stock, staff, branches — should write the books, bought per module.

Where Flowyana differs

What changes if you choose Flowyana.

Operations write the books

A POS sale, a rental invoice, a payroll run, or a stock receipt posts its own double-entry voucher. QuickBooks records what you or a connected app feed it.

One product, not a stack of connectors

The till, the stock, the staff, the customers, and the ledger are modules over one set of records, so nothing has to be reconciled between apps.

Per module, not per tier

You never move up a plan to unlock inventory, multi-currency, or locations; you switch on the module you need and pay for that.

Branches and languages are settings

Staff see only their own branch, and the workspace runs in six languages with bilingual Arabic–English documents.

Being fair

When QuickBooks Online is the better choice.

  • You want bank feeds, receipt capture, and direct submission to the tax authority — in the UK, Making Tax Digital filing to HMRC. Flowyana offers none of these: no bank feeds, no receipt scanning, no filing.
  • Your accountant or bookkeeper already works in QuickBooks, and there is no till, stock, or staff you need in the same system.
  • You want a very large third-party app ecosystem, and you are happy to connect the rest of the business to the books rather than run it in one place.

If that sounds like you, we would rather say so now than after a demo. If it does not, book one and judge for yourself.

Questions

Asked when comparing with QuickBooks Online.

Is Flowyana’s accounting as complete as QuickBooks?

It is full double-entry: vouchers, ledgers, account groups, dimensions, financial year, multi-currency, and the standard statements read live. What QuickBooks has and Flowyana does not is bank feeds, receipt scanning, and direct tax filing.

Can we keep QuickBooks and use Flowyana for operations?

Some businesses do exactly that at first. It means two systems and a reconciliation, which is the thing Flowyana exists to remove — so tell us how you work today and we will be straight about whether the move is worth it.

Can I buy only accounting in Flowyana?

Yes. Accounting is a complete module on its own, and invoicing, inventory, POS, or payroll can be switched on later over the same records.
